Moving on…

It’s been a long time since I played Desktop Dungeons or DoomRL but THEY ARE SOO ADDICTIVE.
Especially doom, once you have a grasp of the game, it’s so easy to just sink <20mins on a game.

Desktop Dungeons is a tiny roguelike that takes place on 1 screen and controls are entirely mouse based². Gameplay is very similiar to regular roguelikes in that you move into enemies to kill them, though there is a very limited inventory system that works REALLY WELL. You have HP potions and MP potions that restore HP and MP respectively (scaled with your level). You can carry 3 “runes” which are basically your casting spells, these also increase in strenghth as you level up. If you dislike a particular skill, you can simply “eat” it and give your stats (Strength, evasion) a bonus. Bleh, I’ll link you over here before I do more harm than good.

DoomRL. Don’t let it’s discombobulating GUI discombobulate you. It’s controls are alot simplier than your average dwarf fortress³ with only movement keys, shoot and inventory/equiptment⁴. It may not seem like doom at first, but it really is just as addictive. Words don’t do this game enough justice⁵, give it half an hour before making any judgements and you’ll be surprised! I would write up a short story, but it’s been to long since I played, maybe next post =D

Speaking of which, I promise I’ll make a post tomorrow. I’ve just been busy catching up on work and dreading the 21st (which I won’t have to anymore!)

New Year, New theme

Now I know it’s not quite twenty ten yet, but I thought I’d change themes for the blog. The old one was OKay. Not particularly brilliant but acceptable.

This new one though, it’s a real treat (In my opinion) Nice contrasting colours, Sleek design and Smooth scrolling! (Try it (The return to top button))

And as a plus, the theme plays nice with Windows Live Writer!

Preparing for the Surprise

I’ve been sick for the past two days with the flu, (doesn’t really matter whether it’s swine or not, it’s flu season here anyway) was worse today but did a lot of work on the surprise for this Saturday yesterday.

Sorry for another two month break, but I do have some great news.
Make alot of progress on Space defenders after exams two months ago, will be making an indepth post tomorrow.
