Yay the exams are finally behind us,there will most likely be a torrent of new posts coming soon…
Today performed at the fall showcase concert for my school, it was really just the junior groups, but it’s good practise for my solo competition tomorrow.
I’m playing Czardas by V.Monti, accompanied by Raymond lee:

Oh and did I mention that I was in the 2nd wave of NXE preview participants? Kind of pointless now since it comes out officially tomorrow, but ah well…

What a National led parliament means for US!

FIBRE!
National has a policy that plans to bring fibre to business, schools and the first wave of homes by 6 years.

National also believes in making people work instead of living on the government. They plan to bring taxes down while also lowering social welfare for those that are able to work.

National also have an extensive policy on energy on NZ’s growing energy demands. No comment on Nuclear energy though.

Interest free loans for students with an early repayment bonus? I like!

I have a feeling that national’s coalition led government will stay for another term and I believe John Key will do NZ well through the economic ressesion.

Hi!…atus among other things

Hey…It’s been two weeks since my last post, sorry for making you worry, i’m not dead.
I’ve got good news and bad news.
I’m currently busy studying for my exams and won’t make anymore posts until they’re over (in 2 weeks) but don’t worry I have lots of stuff to post on after that.
I’ve got two new…Hobbies?
Baking (I know…)
and uh card throwing : p
I’ve also made heaps of progress on Helljump (no its not dead).
realised some really interesting things
and I have HEAPS of awesome concepts for the weekly concept post…

Level Design!

Today I’ve managed to implement the SVG(SVG is a picture format (like jpeg) for vector art, i’m using inkscape to create my levels) parser by Shaktool. This means I can simply draw my levels with inkscape and then import a small version into box2d and photoshop a large version with the proper backgrounds etc…
Very exciting!!
Here’s a sneak peak at the “first” level!

Yes it looks very small, but that’s because 1 px in that == 1 meter in the game XP!

Nuclear apocylapse, zomie rampages, dolphins armies and more…

Tommorrow school starts *sigh it’s gonna be crazy uptil the exams, but after them, its a free ride home :P .
3 games I’m really looking forwards (short-term), of 3 very different genres…

Fallout 3, Epic ar pe ge by Bethesda (the people who made oblivion) hits the PC, 360 and PS3 October 13. Truly open world and decisions trees the size of spore ;P.
Detonate an old nuke and destroy a city or defuse it and become the town’s hero.
Those kinds of choices make the game truly unique and has “over 300 unique” endings”

Left 4 dead, Co-op zombie survivor. This ain’t you regular slow retarded zombies, theses are mutant zombies hell bent on kill you just because you’re immune to bad breathe. Play with four other people against the zombies of Nowheresville, USA. The ai zomies are all controlled by the “director” an “smart ai that scales the difficulty depending on your skill! Hits PC and tree-city November 11.
Must Buy!!

RA3, no not ray, Red alert 3 (ZOMG communists) Now with polar bears, dolphins, the japanese Empire, telsa cannons/towers… What more could you want!
This are te ess will rock PC on the 31st and 360s November 14!

Future Concept: RTS on a globe

While playing with a plasma globe at a store, I suddenly had an idea for an awesome concept.
Playing a Real Time Strategy game on a a globe complete with touchscreen controls.

Basically what it is, is a regular RTS say like Red Alert, but with the map spread over a globe, with retro graphics. So it’s more like Defcon but with out the nuclear weapons.

You control and manipulate your troops completely with your fingers, to create troops and buildings by double tapping any point, a circle will be created at the point, and you simply tap on which option you want, the globe should support multi touch too so it would be easy to create lots of units/buildings at once, uber micro anyone?

To move simply draw a line around the troops that you wish to move and drag them to your desired destination, this will create a faded out duplicate at the destination with a dotted line showing the path of travel.

The next time you see a plasma globe, put your fingers on them and just imagine flinging each indivudual point of light to pull off your intricate strategies!
